Pregnancy + Bipolar - Will I Be Successful? (Pt II)
I found out recently that IVF is now bulk-billed, mostly. It’s only $2000 out of pocket.
I am 35 years old, and now I feel I have all the time in the world because IVF is so cheap.
Hubby and I had the conversation the other day that we are going to wait until he gets his PR before we actively try again.
But what have I learnt about falling pregnancy and taking Clozapine?
Clozapine increases my chance of getting things.
Such as gestational diabetes, seizures and even psychosis.
Doctors have told me that vitamin D deficiency makes me at greater risk of getting psychosis during pregnancy.
Also that I am not to breast-feed, when have given birth.
Only formula.
Because I would not be able to control the amount of Clozapine that gets into baby.
But I can control the amount after I give birth, and that’s why breastfeeding is the better option.
The psychiatrists asked me who are my supports, if I was to fall pregnant and have a baby.
I said NDIS, family, friends, a good workplace team and definitely a supportive husband.
