Recovery Is NOT Linear - It’s Sometimes Confusing, Sometimes Messy

Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all.

It’s personal, sometimes messy, and always courageous.

I am grounded in mutuality, authenticity, and the belief that even the smallest steps forward deserve recognition in my life.

Over the years I support myself to identify what matters to me most.

In life.

I am the only one walking in my shoes.

I decide how I live my life.

And I feel my life is meaningful and purposeful.

I am now helping others with their mental health challenges.

And I have swapped roles from being the “mental health patient”, to the staff member now.

I am so proud of how far I’ve come.

The other day a nurse who cared me in my first mental health admission, I met at work.

She remembered me.

She said, “You used to be a little girl.”

But now?

I am a grown woman who has found her purpose in life.
