INTERVIEW with Clarity By Brooke || Brisbane Fashion Festival 2025 Designer (Hancock Prospecting Next Gen Group Show)
SD: Hi Clarity by Brooke, for my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?
B: Hi, my name is Brooke. I am an aspiring fashion designer. I started my fashion career designing clothes for my Barbies. At the age of nine, I received my first sewing machine from my parents. This is still the only machine I have and use. My parents certainly got their money's worth.
SD: What kind of music do you like, and how do you incorporate it into your fashion design?
B: I love listening to artists like Clairo her music has a soft, dreamy, and nostalgic quality that really resonates with me. That mood often influences my design process, helping me create pieces that feel gentle, feminine, and emotionally connected. Her sound inspires colour palettes, flowy silhouettes, and a sense of calm confidence.
SD: What’s your creative routine like? Where do you start, and how do you know when something’s finished?
B: So far, if I have something coming up, I like to create for that show. I usually start off with draping my ideas on a mannequin. to see what will and won't work with the fabric. As I am still learning, I try to create things I haven't done before. I am currently making a coat and trying to work with pleats, for example, box pleats and knife pleats.
What would be your dream fashion gig right now?
B: Right now I would really like to wow at the Brisbane fashion show. This is a dream come true. But if we are talking about dreams, to be invited to do Melbourne Fashion Week would be totally amazing for me.
SD: Could you describe your personal style of clothing?
B: My personal style captures the essence of elegance, femininity, and joyful self-expression. Each piece is designed with flowing fabrics, delicate florals, and refined silhouettes that reflect a sense of effortless grace. The brand celebrates beauty in the details—thoughtful tailoring, soft textures, and uplifting color palettes—creating styles that feel both polished and playful. Clarity by Brooke is for women who want to feel confident, radiant, and true to themselves. At its core, the brand is about embracing individuality and timeless charm, offering fashion that not only looks beautiful but makes you feel beautiful too.
SD: Without giving too many details away, what should we expect from your collection for the Brisbane Fashion Festival 2025?
B: Gosh that is a difficult question I have big ideas and plans. I want to create a few new items. Expect to find floral and flowy fabrics that will be feminine.
