INTERVIEW with Kevin Colman || Island Haus Runway 2026 Runway Model
SD: Hi, Kevin. For my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?
KC: Hi, I’m Kevin, a North Brisbane based model with a love for adventure, whether I’m on the back of a motorbike, experiencing new cultures in faraway places, or sitting around a table playing board games with friends.
To me, modelling is about so much more than standing in front of a camera, or walking a runway. It’s about the connections and friendships I’ve made, the people who have become family, and the joy of watching them grow and succeed. This journey has had its share of highs and lows, and I’m excited to share a little of it with you.
SD: Describe your personal style of clothing?
KC: My personal style really depends on what I’m doing, but comfort is always my starting point. My style can range from tailored suits and long coats to leather jackets and flannel. I’m naturally drawn to colour, and I enjoy finding ways to use it to my advantage—whether that means making a bold statement or using it subtly to bring an outfit together.
SD: When did you know you wanted to be a model?
KC: I didn’t actually start out wanting to be a model, the first year was me fighting with my own demons and confidence. But the realisation came about a year and a half into doing it, when I found a community that not only supported me but also challenged me to keep pushing myself. With the right people around you, that feeling is intoxicating.
I knew then that I wanted more, I wanted to walk more runways, meet new people, and keep throwing myself into the deep end to see just how far I could go.
SD: If you could talk to your ten-year-old self, what would you say?
KC: I’d tell my ten-year-old self, “Your value isn’t determined by how useful you are to other people. Some will happily accept everything you give but may not be there when you need help—and that does not make you any less worthy. Be generous, but don’t lose yourself in the process. You are deserving of the same care and kindness you so freely give to others.”
SD: What has been your most favourite photoshoot to date?
KC: There are so many beautiful experiences to draw from, but the one that stands out most is my very first photoshoot. I still remember the conversations with the photographer, the awkwardness of learning how to pose, and the uncertainty of what to wear.
What made it so special wasn’t just the shoot itself, it was seeing the final photos. For the first time, I looked at images of myself and genuinely appreciated the person I saw looking back at me.
SD: What are you most excited about for Island Haus Runway?
KC: What excites me most about Island Haus Runway is the people. I get to reconnect with those who are close to me, work alongside my friends, and support an incredible team of creatives as they bring their vision to life. I’m also excited about meeting new people and discovering what opportunities and connections might come from the experience.
