INTERVIEW with Niki Teljega || Former Couture Fashion Designer, Magazine Editor in Chief and Owner of Designer Q Fashion Events

SD: Hi, Niki. For my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?

NT: Sure, my name is Niki, I'm a former couture fashion designer, fashion magazine editor-in-chief, and owner of Designer Q fashion events. Now taking a break from the fashion world to focus on raising my mini me, Zara.

SD: What does fashion mean to you?

NT: Fashion is a way we use to express ourselves, it shows us who we are, what our personalities are, it can also be an escape for some people. Whether it's dressy couture or chilling out comfortable clothes, what you wear tells your story, and how you’re feeling in that moment. So the next time you decide to go to a party in casual clothes, just know, we know, how you’re feeling in that moment.

SD: What’s the most important to you at the moment?

NT: At the moment, would be my family and my family's future. Putting a pause on fashion to focus on building investments while we're young and still healthy enough to work hard. The world is getting harder for the younger generations and I just want to make sure that when I leave this world, my little one is set up for success. Also making as many memories as I can with her while I can, traveling a lot and showing her the world :)

SD: What is the meaning of motherhood for you?

NT: Being a mum is the best thing that's ever happened to me, I never knew love had a deeper meaning until I had Z. She's such a blessing and I'm truly blessed to be her muma.

SD: How would you describe your personal style?

NT: My personal style is unique, I don't like to follow the trends, I like to create them - that's why I'm a former fashion designer. I like to wear flowy things and waist belts to enhance my figure type, being a larger gal I have to hide the bits of me that doesn’t do justice and enhance my natural curves.

SD: What would you say to your younger self?

NT: Trust the process of life. Not going to lie, when I was younger I was thinking ,"What is the purpose of this life? Why am I here? Why do I get hurt easy?" and it all leads up to where I am now, which is the mum of Z and wife of Yass, and honestly this is the happiest self I’ve ever been. I'd tell the younger me to follow my heart, ignore haters and those who never believed in you, and keep moving forward without looking back.
