INTERVIEW with Anisha Mahato || Island Haus Runway 2026 Runway Model
SD: Hi, I’m Anisha. For my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?
AM: Hi, I’m Anisha, I’m 26 and based in Brisbane. I like to call myself an aspiring model, as my modelling journey has only recently begun. I’m still finding my feet in the industry, learning and growing with every opportunity.
Outside of modelling, I love cooking, taking care of myself and spending time painting. I really enjoy anything that allows me to be creative and express myself.
SD: Describe your personal style of clothing?
AM: Honestly, I don’t think I have one particular style. I love to mix and match and dress according to how I’m feeling. Some days I feel very girly and feminine, and other days I’m sportier and more casual.
For me, the most important thing is feeling comfortable and confident in whatever I’m wearing. I think Fashion is all about having fun and being able to express different sides of yourself.
SD: When did you know you wanted to be a model?
AM: I’ve actually always wanted to be a model. I remember being so fascinated by dressing up and watching models on the runway and in photoshoots. I used to dream about seeing myself on big billboards one day.
Moving to Australia gave me the opportunity to find my way back to that dream. My modelling journey is still at the beginning, but I genuinely love what I’m doing now and I want to keep learning, growing and becoming better.
SD: If you could talk to your ten-year-old self, what would you say?
AM: I would tell her not to give up on her dreams, believe in herself. Chase your dreams everything else will fall into place when the time is right.
SD: What has been your most favourite photoshoot to date?
AM: My favourite photoshoot so far would have to be the recent shoot I did with photographer Nicola Ernstt.
Nicola reached out to me for the shoot, and together we came up with the idea for an indoor concept. This shoot is very close to me because I felt like I could really express myself in front of the camera.
When we received the final photos, I was so happy with how they turned out. It was one of those shoots that reminded me why I love modelling and made me even more excited about what I can create in the future.
SD: What are you most excited about for Island Haus Runway?
AM: I’m most excited because this will be my very first runway, so it’s a really special moment for me. I’m excited to experience the atmosphere, walk the runway and be surrounded by so many talented creatives.
