INTERVIEW with Su Lousick || 2026 Designer for Fashique Runway
SD: Hi, Su. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?
SL: I am a Wiradjuri woman who was born and always lived on Country. I have cultural obligations to people and places of the Wambal/Macquarie and Bogan river valleys of central west catchment in NSW.
SD: How and when did you get into fashion design?
SL: 2014 was my inaugural fashion show at Town Hall in Sydney, and since this time I've participated a few times in Darwin at their Country to Couture fashion show.
SD: What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself when you were starting out in fashion design?
SL: Follow your dreams and if they don't scare you, you're not dreaming big enough. I didn't dream big when I was young.
SD: What keeps you inspired?
SL: Family and living on Country.
SD: You’re showcasing your designs in Fashique Runway 2026 this year. What excites you most about this?
SL: Meeting other First Nation designers and telling my story through my fashion and adornments.
